The Paris Post

Arrived in Paris yesterday, April 24th, after flying from 8:00PM until 4:00AM, and losing 6 hours with the time zone thingie. Slept about 4 hours on the cramped plane and in spite of that checked into the hotel right in the middle of Paris, went out for lunch, did some shopping and sight seeing until 9:00PM. When we hit the pillow we all slept like hibernating bears.

A video: Flying to Paris

Here’s some pics…

DAY ONE April 24th

Wiped…after travelling all night on the red-eye..

The French know how to live! But their bath rooms are smallish and not too stylish. Functional I guess….

Small, eenie elevators…

But the leaves are on the trees…..

And spring is in the air.

Went for lunch. Impatient waiters and crepes. Everyone sits outside in Paris….our shoes….

Back of the chair..

From our room balcony….

The Seine….

Notre Dame Cathedral

Notre Dame is the heart of Paris and of the country itself. Distances from the city to all parts of France are calculated from here. Napolean crowned himself here. Notre Dame was founded in th 12th century. Many prayed here before going off to fight in the crusades.

It was once scheduled for demolition but was saved because of interest in the gothic period and Victor Hugos popular book “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”Â

Walking back it started raining…

Here’s another video, Paris night walk

DAY TWO April 25th

Walked to the “Tower”, passing The Louvre along the way….

Fun with candy…

We checked out the war museum and Napoleans Tomb, all in the same area. The war museum is apparently the larges of its kind in the world. It had loads of stuff dedicated to pre-WW1, WW1 and WW2….

The cathedral where Napoleans tomb is located…

DAY THREE April 26th

The ceiling at Napoleans Tomb:

Napoleans Tomb…..

These images dedicated only to the Arc De Triomphe:

These images dedicated only to the Eiffel Tower. On day two we walked past the Louvre, over to the Champs Delysee, then to the Eiffel tower. There were thousands and thousands of people there with massive lines ups. No thanks! We kep going and walked all the way back. My feet were killing me!

Next morning bought some insole supports, and we bought the two day HopOn HopOff open bus/boat tour. Eventually we made our way back to the Eiffel tower, by boat, and there were still thousands of people lined up, so we kept going, hopped on another open bus to a dif area we hadn’t been to yet.

Paris is awesome. You really need to see it in person. Photos doesn’t do it justice.

I loved seeing your travel pics. we were in Paris at the end of January -fantastic an ambience you don’t find anywhere else. Any way, it is a great time to go – no queues 2 mins to go up the Eiffel tower, we wore overcoats so the cooler temps weren’t a problem.I loved the portrait shots of your daughter as well. Can’t wait to see the rest of your snaps.Thanks.

  2. I am sooooooo jealous! Keep posting your pics.
